Reflections from the Founder
Security in our Churches

As I watched TV over the last several days of the shootings in Nebraska and Colorado; I am reminded of my past as a protector of our nation while serving in the United States Secret Service. I realized that the young men of our nation need the ministry of Champions as they cry out to be rescued before we have more of these incidents.

Each of the shootings involved youth who were disenfranchised, had a feeling of rejection, and were acting out of desperation, hopelessness, and a violent expression of suicide by gun. The security volunteer who shot the violator in Colorado probably saved many lives by her actions of responding to the problem, but the actual shot that took his life was self inflicted according to the police.

As men of God, we have to be aware of the signs of the times and the indicators of potential problems. I believe the proliferation of violent video games has de-sensitized our youth and combined with their rejection and depression, this creates a disaster waiting to happen.

Guarding our houses of worship is only part of the answer, we need the keen eyes of those dedicated to keeping a secure setting, but we also need men who are able to rescue our youth from a disastrous future. This can only happen with the power of God and a passion in us to pursue His Presence to make a difference in a cruel and violent world. We have to be able to see our youth as God sees them and become the fathers and mentors that are so desperately needed.

God gave me a security background in protection and conducting security surveys as well as a passion for ministry to men. Whether it is structuring ushers and security teams for a church or protecting the leaders of the world, it is helpful to identify potential problems as well as making all the right plans for safety and evacuation. If churches or pastors need my assistance or consultation for their venues, then do not hesitate to call upon me. The events in Colorado Springs showed that being diligent and having a plan is paramount in saving lives in a violent situation.

The answer is not only in physical security but also in the spiritual needs of the men of a church to rise up and change a world. That is why I believe Champions are needed in every church. We need to build a strong ministry to men that you will attract the younger generations of men and then we are able to make a difference in their lives. Young people are crying out for a fathers blessing and approval. They want to have borders and discipline but do not know how to ask or operate within it. Champions' builds biblically masculine men that are able to step in with God's love to strengthen the generations that follow.

Yes we need a secure environment but we also need the security of a father's love, understanding of a mother's compassion, and the camaraderie of a band of brothers. We are going to see more violence unless we step up our compassion for this world and have a boldness of spirit to act as God designed us. We have to be outspoken but we must follow that with actions.

Please pray for our nation, but also pray for your local communities with a renewed fervency to stem the tide of Godlessness and malaise. This Christmas Season we need to remember the hope of the world, Jesus Christ and the message He wants us to spread of hope, good will, and love of mankind.

Personal Giants

“A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall … So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him” (1 Samuel 17:4, 50).

We are all familiar with the classic story of David and Goliath. This giant from Gath was enormous in size and stature. He taunted the armies of Israel and showed no respect nor did he show fear. Goliath stood strong and was the wall that Israel could not overcome. But, Israel’s greatest fear was killed by a mere shepherd boy who was on his way to see his brothers.

Understanding Male Context

Your understanding of masculine context will help you reach men for Christ. Unless we understand who men are, we cannot relate to them. Eighty percent of salvations of men come out of relationships. It is important to understand masculinity or how God wired men in order to have a successful ministry to men. I have listed some basics that every leader must understand if Champions are going to be developed.

Seven Steps of a Champion

I am frequently asked, “What is Champion’s of Honor?” As I respond to this question, everyone starts to realize that ‘Champions of Honor’ is a ministry to men focused on who we are as Honorable men, not what we are able to do as Men. The following seven steps will keep an honorable man developing as a Champion for God:
